I have started this page to help reach out to those in Oregon who are affected by Stickler's Syndrome. I have been tenetively diagnosed with the condition. Although I was a bit familiar with the condition due to my work with the Oregon Marfan's group (my husband has Marfan's), I was forced to become much more familiar with Stickler's since the genetic specialist first realized we were likely affected in 2001.

Patients usually do not have all symptoms that can be attributed to Stickler syndrome and members of the same family may have different symptoms.

At this time there is no active group set up to link Stickler's affected to each other in Washington, Oregon or California that I am aware of. If you are interested starting a west coast support group, please e-mail me at: oregonsticklers@hotmail.com

Stickler syndrome received its name from Dr. G. B. Stickler, who first studied and documented the syndrome. It is a connective tissue disorder, a genetic malfunction in the tissue that connects bones, heart, eyes, and ears. This disorder is associated with problems of vision, hearing, bone and joint, facial and cleft palate, and heart.
